Workforce Development
NCUS provides core and intensive workforce development services to individuals in need of skill development or a skill upgrade in order to reach socioeconomic self-sufficiency. We provide certified job training, workplace readiness and career coaching that prepares individuals to secure and retain employment with a focus on lifelong personal and professional development.

Youth Development Services:

A life skills program challenges youth to explore their greatest potential for achievement with emphasis on improving academic success, classroom attendance, self-esteem and confidence. Through intense mentoring we assist in creating a life plan to reach their goals, develop leadership skills and insure high school graduation.

Adult/Dislocated Workforce:

We provide a qualified workforce through our training to meet the employer’s needs. Our focus is to assist job seekers to obtain, retain or upgrade their employment.

Professional Training

The National Center for Urban Solutions provides certified professional development training for teachers, social workers, health care and other human service professionals working urban communities. Our classes, workshops and training resources are based on culturally informed training pedagogy and emphasize an asset orientation of these communities and the people living in them. Our objective is to equip our graduates to develop and deliver programs and services that connect, empower and transform.

Training and Education options for your staff

To meet your staff development needs, we offer professional development and continuing education courses in a wide variety of subject areas. All of our courses are available as open-enrollment options throughout the year; however for your convenience selected course can be made available in the form of intensive 1 to 3 day workshops and taught in your office or other offsite location on a contract basis.

Tools to Fit Your Needs and Schedule

Technology is the foundation for much learning activity. Several of our courses are available online, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Webinars, podcasts, and videoconferencing are additional formats available for training.

Professional learning communities

Professional Learning Communities are collegial groups of human service professionals who are united in their commitment to learning and professional development. They share a vision to work and learn collaboratively and examine research and evidence based best practices that offer new and better ways to serve people. NCUS facilitates several professional learning communities in partnership with our Institute for Urban Public Policy.
